Febantel 888 mg tablets are a broad-spectrum anthelmintic formulation widely used in veterinary medicine for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal parasitic infections. Febantel belongs to the benzimidazole group of antiparasitic agents and is known for its strong efficacy against a wide range of nematodes (roundworms) and certain other intestinal parasites. The high-strength 888 mg dose provides robust action, especially in cases requiring enhanced parasite clearance.
Once administered, Febantel is converted in the animal's body into its active metabolites—Fenbendazole and Oxfendazole. These metabolites interfere with the parasites' energy metabolism by inhibiting microtubule formation, leading to paralysis, impaired nutrient absorption, and eventual death of the parasites. This mechanism ensures reliable elimination of worms from the gastrointestinal tract.
